Privacy policy
The short version: this website doesn't track you, and the app keeps everything on your device. We only ever have your email address if you choose to send it to us — and we use it only for what you asked.
Part 1 — This website
No cookies, no tracking
This site is a set of static pages. It does not set cookies, does not use analytics, does not load advertising or tracking scripts, and does not embed third-party fonts or content that could track you. Our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) may keep standard technical server logs, such as IP addresses, as part of operating the service; we do not access or use these for tracking. See GitHub's privacy statement for details.
Email — only if you send it
The only personal information we ever receive from this site is your email address, and only if you voluntarily submit it (for example, to request the printable checklist). We use it solely to send you what you asked for, and — if you requested it — an occasional update about the app. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone. You can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to sayitlikethat@gmail.com.
If the email form on this site is powered by a form service (such as Formspree), your submission is processed by that service to deliver the message to us, subject to its own privacy policy.
Part 2 — The SayItLikeThat iOS app
Your data stays on your device
SayItLikeThat is designed to work entirely on your iPhone:
- Scripts you write or import are stored only on your device.
- Video and audio recordings you make are stored only on your device (and in your own iCloud or photo library if you choose to save them there).
- We do not collect, upload, view, or analyze your scripts, recordings, voice, or any other content. We have no servers that receive your data.
- The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Camera and microphone access
The app asks for camera and microphone permission only so you can record yourself. Recording happens locally; nothing is transmitted to us. You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Purchases and subscriptions
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. To validate purchases and manage subscription status, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-validation service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier and purchase receipt information from Apple — not your name, email, scripts, or recordings. You can read RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
Deleting your data
Because everything lives on your device, deleting your data is in your hands: delete individual scripts and recordings inside the app, or delete the app itself to remove everything it stored. There is no account to close and no server-side data for us to erase.
Children
Neither the site nor the app is directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the site or the app handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Because the app is local-first by design, we expect changes to be rare.
